The first sem of Cel animation tuition concentrates on basic animal and human life drawing, character design, and an introduction to rough inbetweening and clean up animation techniques. An introduction to technical and production knowledge, legal requirements, and animation history is also taught. The second sem develops rough and clean up key animation techniques and introduces layout. The curriculum continues to develop animal and human life drawing skills. The third sem requires interpretation and development of story line, storyboards, character design, layout, key animation and key clean up. Students are also required to edit and produce a minimum of two minutes of animation to broadcast television quality for submission at the end of the sem. At the end of the first sem students have the option of continuing with Classical Cel Animation in the second sem, or taking the Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) elective. The first sem of CGI concentrates on developing software skills and computer animation techniques and the second sem of CGI focuses on the same skills as the third sem Classical Cel students, but using a 3D computer programme as the medium.
